Yes. Participation in CPD workshops requires registration with a recognised professional body. For example, the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) for social workers practising in South Africa. Where a CPD workshop is SACSSP-accredited, social workers registered with professional councils outside South Africa are welcome to participate. In such cases, participants are responsible for recording the activity as a non-approved CPD activity and maintaining their own Portfolio of Evidence (PoE), which may be submitted to their respective professional body in accordance with their requirements. Participants are advised to consult their relevant professional council’s CPD policies, including applicable norms and standards, to ensure compliance with expectations for the recognition, recording, and submission of CPD activities.
